"iPod" meme

Now that I actually have one, I felt I should finally do this. . .  :-)

You know how this works, right?
Step 1: Put your music player on shuffle.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Strike through the songs when someone guesses both artist and track correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
Step 5: If you like the game post your own.

1. Come on, baby, let's get out of this town. ("You Can Sleep While I Drive," Melissa Etheridge, [info]nukekitty)

Chicks. . .

Me
. . . of a Dixie nature: Today, Howard Stern had on the Dixie Chicks, who have been much maligned in recent years for their lead singer's comments on the Iraq War. They've stuck to their guns about this, not backed down or cracked under the immense pressure of war- and Bush-supporting radio broadcast companies, like ClearChannel and Cox Radio, banning their music. When they started producing their latest album, they told Sony to not expect any radio support. The first single from this album is "Not Ready To Make Nice," which specifically speaks about the protests, the death threats, the outright idiotic behavior directed at 3 women who had the audacity to think that a war resulting in thousands of innocents dead and destabilizing the country we were supposed to free from tyranny was pointless and someone needed to say so.

I'd been thinking about picking up this latest album just because I enjoy their music, but I'm now triply inclined to do so after being reminded of just how stupid things have gotten in this country. I'd urge everyone to buy a copy of the CD, or maybe just the new track from your favorite site, if only to support the freedoms our forefathers built into our constitution. The same freedoms the current administration and its staunchest followers think we only deserve if we speak in favor of said administration and all of its policies.

Okay, I'm putting away the soapbox now, I promise.
