I got all dressed up this morning, watched my girlfriend go up the stage in the BJC and get her diploma, then did the same myself in Eisenhower Auditorium.

Still doesn't seem real. I still feel like I should worry about books next semester, what kind of things my friends are going to be doing, classes and if I'll like them...

But instead I move to Ohio in a week, get ready to work the Tuesday after that... Feels fake. College, all the classes can't have been 4 years. High school was so much longer than college...

I was standing on my balcony, admiring the gargantuan lilac bush in my back yard, which is in glorious bloom. It's been there since before I moved in a decade ago; the bush could be older than me, for all I know. I was thinking how lovely it would be to clips some lilacs and bring a bouquet of them to someone as a gift. Maybe a host of a party, or a shopkeeper with whom I'm friendly.

And then I thought no, you can't bring lilacs anywhere without offending someone. Flowers, food, artwork...you can't bring anything anywhere without someone taking offense, considering themselves assaulted somehow.

I used to love pot luck dinners. Now I'm afraid of them, and don't accept invitations as often as I used to, because no matter what cooking ingredients I use or don't use in the dish I bring, someone will consider themselves victimized by me.

I haven't worn perfume/fragrance oil in almost two years. It's not worth the shit I took for it.

I can't think of anything on the face of this earth -- animal, vegetable, mineral or idea -- that isn't going to offend, trigger, assault, oppress, scar, wound, marginalize or disenfranchise someone. I quit, as far as futilely trying to circumnavigate it is concerned.

Sorry for the momentary wave of grump. I don't usually chronicle these moods, which are rare. But it just got to me this time, there on the balcony.

If anyone wants some lilacs, I have some.

+ Kim and I went out last night to get manicures and pedicures.  

- She was supposed to go to a friend's prom tonight, which is why we planned the manicure/pedicure.  Then the prom fell, through, because the kid's dad is refusing to let the kid go.  It's a refusal in the Footloose and 17 is too young to go out with a girl sort of way.  Ugh.

+ No matter.  This meant we switched her Mom's visitation weekends and now we have Kim for Memorial Day, which is awesome.  Very happy about that.

+ I like the color orange, especially in nail polish.

- No economic stimulus payment, like we were supposed to get today.  We even e-filed when we owed money just so we'd get this money sooner.  The website it telling us they have no information on it, either.  Wah!

- I think I may be coming down with a cold.  Double wah!!

+ It's Friday.  Hooray for Fridays!

+ I think I'm leaving early.  Soon. 

- Need more Mucinex.  *sniff*  *sniff*

Went and saw Iron Man tonight. Great movie, even without the comic knowledge. Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr. played a very good jackass turned hero, and was very convincing.

The movie didn't seem as long as it was, which means to me that it drew me in, which was really good.

Overall, see it. Comic book geek or not, go see it. It's good, funny, touching, and a very good movie overall.
